ACADEMICS & AUTHORS
Your writing represents your professional reputation
Publishing academic work comes with a different kind of pressure. Whether you’re preparing a journal article, editing a book chapter or finalising a research report for publication, every sentence carries weight.
Clarity, consistency and precision all matter – not just for readability, but for credibility.
After months of drafting and revising, it can become difficult to spot the smaller issues yourself. Repeated phrasing, inconsistent terminology, formatting errors or awkward transitions can easily slip through, especially when you’re balancing teaching, deadlines, research projects or institutional responsibilities.
Your work deserves more than a generic proofread. It deserves an editor who understands academic writing, respects your voice and knows how to polish complex material.

ACADEMICS & AUTHORS
An editor who understands academic language & context
I have a BA in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of York, and an MA in Social Development from UEA, giving me a strong grounding in the language, theoretical perspectives and conventions commonly used in social science research.
I regularly work with international academics and researchers who want their writing to sound polished, fluent and publication ready while still retaining their own voice and perspective. This experience means I’m comfortable working with complex material, technical terminology and interdisciplinary writing.
As a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), I work to recognised professional and ethical standards. My role is never to rewrite your work or change your argument, but to help present your ideas as clearly, professionally and effectively as possible.
Clients often tell me they value not only the quality of the editing, but also the reassurance of working with someone who understands the pressures and expectations of academic publishing.

Supporting international scholars writing in English
Writing for publication in a second or additional language can be challenging, particularly when academic English has such specific expectations around tone, structure and style.
I regularly work with international academics and researchers who want their writing to sound polished, fluent and publication-ready while still retaining their own voice and perspective.
This can include refining phrasing, improving flow and syntax, and ensuring that your manuscript reads smoothly in English. The aim is always to strengthen clarity and readability without changing the meaning of your work.
Whether you’re preparing a journal submission, policy report or academic book chapter, I can help ensure your research is communicated with confidence and precision.
